Welcome to Capital City Quilters (CCQ) Guild!

Capital City Quilters is a quilting guild located in Juneau, Alaska, which is intended to contribute to the growth and knowledge of quilting techniques, as well as to encourage fellowship among Juneau’s quilters.  Any person interested in quilting is welcome to become a member of the Capital City Quilters’ Guild.  The annual membership fee is $25.

Fat Quarter is the Guild’s monthly newsletter.  The Newsletter Editor distributes the Fat Quarter either electronically (email) or first-class mail by the 5th of each month.  Deadline for submission of articles usually is the last Friday of each month.

Instructors:  Each year the guild brings in quilt instructors from out of town.  These are generally people who have become well known for their work and/or techniques and ideas that we would otherwise not have knowledge.  Guild members have first preference in taking these classes.  The guild also utilizes our local talent to share skills and techniques.

Library:  The Guild maintains an extensive lending library of quilting books.  Books are available for check-out during UFO days.

Meeting Times and Places:  The guild’s monthly meeting is held from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM on the third Tuesday of each month, although this is subject to change.    Members meet in the Thunder Mountain High School’s library, on Riverside Road in the Mendenhall Valley.  Check the website's Calendar to confirm location.  Visitors are welcome

Retreats:  At the direction of the executive board, the guild may sponsor a quilter’s retreat.  Retreats usually are at the Shrine of St Therese, and scheduled over a long weekend.  Interested members can attend for part or all of the retreat, and quilt to their heart’s content.  The cost of the retreat is based on the cost of renting the facility and dividing it equally by the number of people attending.

UFO stands for UnFinished Objects, and is a time when members can get together to work on whatever project they wish.  UFOs are generally scheduled from 9:00AM to midnight on one Saturday (usually the third Saturday) each month.  Members can come for whatever portion of that time they wish to visit with other members and/or to work on individual projects.  Occasionally small classes or other events are offered to members during UFO; participation in these events is optional.
